After completing his Masters in Genetics & Plant Breeding at Pantnagar University, India and a Ph.D. at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, Satish worked with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) as a Plant Breeder, Senior Plant Breeder, and a Research Coordinator & Manager at the Hisar sub-center.  At ICRISAT, he developed several extra-short and short duration (<120 days) varieties and the world's first short duration hybrid of Pigeonpea.  Traditional pigeonpea varieties mature in 210-250 days.  He opted for early retirement from ICRISAR after 14 years to join private Agri.
